Interestingly the Office of Fair Trading states " a contract can be obtained at any time while the property is on the market".
What this means is even if you are not really into a particular property or have not made an offer and there is interest; you have the right to obtain the Contract from the Agent.
Before the House is listed for Sale - it is mandatory a full Contract is in place.
Generally these days the Contract is on email and request agent to email the document to you: if the agent refuses you have the right to mention about the Office of Fair Trading position and they do have an Agent complaint line.
